FAQ

When studs are Not 16″ apart?

When studs are more or less than 16″apart apart ;will this cause the dry wall to buckle when the wall can not be screwed at the end of the dry wall board?

Hello,
Thanks for writing sorry for the late response. If your studs are not 16 inch on center and say 24 inch on center you will want to use 5/8′ drywall and use adhesive to help secure it.
If you previously had lathe and plaster and have no nailers for the corners of your drywall. You will need to build drywall backers and corners to support it. If you do not you will have constant cracking and movement and yes bowing.
You may also run into the issue of insulating a 2×4 wall if the studs are not 16 inch on center.
I hope this helps.
